Brief description: Small stucco Buddha head, round cheeks, protruding eyelids, hair indicated by rows of horizontal indentations. Face with polished appearance. Said to be from Bamiyan.

Measurement: H. 9.5 cm W. 7.5 cm Weight 350 g

Condition: Damaged, nose and earlobes missing

Provenance: Bought in Kabul bazaar in 1972.

Origin/Period: Afghanistan / 20th C. (1309 AH/1930)

Brief description: Slightly convex silver medal with loop at top. Six-sided star with cluster of rays between points. Afghan emblema in center surrounded by band of inscription. This medal was awarded by Mohammad Nader Khan to those who supported him in the struggle against Habibullah Kalakani in 1929.

Measurement: Dia. 5.6 cm Weight 32 g

Condition: Good, tarnished

Brief description: Articulated necklace of silver pendants tightly sewn together on black cotton band. Yellow metal stud at one end, loop at other. Koochi.

Condition: Worn but good, ends of several pendants damaged

Brief description: Wide open double-tiered silver bracelet with single tooth at opening. Surface with row of rosettes along top and bottom and various linear designs in center, raised rib around middle.

Condition: Very worn, repaired on inner surface with two strips of silver

Origin/Period: Northern Afghanistan / 20th C.

Brief description: Small rectangular hanging, small loops at top, pointed end with one yellow and two fuchsia tassels hanging from thick wound stems. Surface with overall Lakai Uzbek embroidery in purple, yellow, white, black, pale green and dark blue, hook motif down both sides, in center squares of horn and tree motifs in various colors. Lined in silk ikat.

Condition: Faded, soiled

Brief description: Articulated bracelet with large flat heart-shaped polished stone in center and on either side a plaque with two smaller round stones and two blue glass beads, all elements joined by looped chain.

Measurement: L. 19 cm W. 4.2 cm Weight 40 g

Condition: Tarnished, slight corrosion
