Brief description: Large bulbous grey soapstone pot with lid, rounded bottom, four flange handles, incised geometric decoration around body and lid and along width of handles, extremely heavy. From Badakhshan.

Condition: New, some damage at rims

Provenance: Bought in the bazaar of Faizabad, 1971-74.

Brief description: Heavy white marble oil lamp on short flared stand, long spout, oil well and spout incised with linear designs. Such marble oil lamps were placed in the niches of gravestones at ziyârats.

Brief description: Man’s long, fine white belted wool coat in six panel of herringbone weave, slit pockets, three wooden peg fastenings at front (European?), ornate embroidery of braided gold-colored silk with white holding stitches at end of sleeves, at back, pockets and in wide band down front opening.

Measurements: L. 132 cm W. at waist 58 cm
