Picture of the Day

View into a well-kept and watered garden. This is probably the lower part of the garden, where Emir Abdur Rahman Khan built his palace bagh-e jahanama in 1890-92. In the foreground four delimited square plant- or flower-beds (chahar bagh), enclosed by a fence whose wooden gateway is visible in the left background. Different trees and shrubs encircle the garden. On the right two Afghans are standing with bags in their hands, maybe working in the beds. In the background a steep mountain range is partly faded away.
