Most probably it was taken in 1917 by Lieutenant Günther Voigt, the aid-de-camp of Niedermayer.

In the central background is the bala hissar (citadel) qal’a-ye Ikhtiyar ud-din; on the left margin are two minarets of the musala visible. In the foreground lies a row of houses with cupolas, crowned by badgirs, chimneys to collect the wind for cooling and ventilation of the houses.
