Aufnahme des dreimotorigen Junkers-Flugzeugs der Lufthansa D-ANOY / Rudolf von Thüna von vorn. Wegen des vielen Schnees und dem aufgeweichten Boden konnte das Flugzeug erst am 27. Eine afghanische Familie vor einem aufwendig geschmückten Grab sitzend. Der Grabstein enthält kleine Nischen, in die Öllämpchen gestellt oder Amulette gelegt werden können. An zwei Stangen flattert einerseits eine Fahne und steckt anderseits eine panja (Hand der Fatima). Am rechten Bildrand steht das ziyarat-e Sakhi am Westhang des koh-e asma’i, am linken Bildrand ist die Plattform der Mittags-Kanone zu erkennen. ♦♦♦ An Afghan family is crouched beside a lavishly adorned tomb. The tombstone holds small niches for oil lamps or to deposit amulets. Two long rods hold a flag and a panja (hand of Fatima). In the right background lies the ziyarat-e Sakhi; in the left background is the platform of the noon-gun visible.

Blick vom SE-Hang des koh-e asma‘i über die Dächer von Deh Afghanan nach NE auf die arg. Links davon der Park des Aussenministeriums mit qasr-e stor, hinter der Burg der Uhrturm borj-e sa'at und qasr-e delkusha. Am rechten Bildrand die langgezogene Rückseite der idgah-Moschee. ♦♦♦ A view in north-eastern direction from the koh-e asma’i. In the centre lies the walled arg, to its left is the ministry of foreign affairs in the qasr-e stor, and behind the arg the clock-tower and the delkusha Palace are visible. The white strip in the upper right corner is the idgah-mosque.

Blick von der Brücke pul-e Mahmud Khan flussaufwärts. Im Hintergrund die Kabul-Schlucht zwischen den Bergen koh-e sher darwaza und koh-e asma‘i. Davor die Kuppel des Mausoleums von Timur Shah. Am linken Flussufer, nördlich der idgah-Moschee lag das fil khana, das Elefantenhaus. ♦♦♦ A view upstream from the bridge pul-e Mahmud Khan. In the background is the Kabul Gorge between the mountains koh-e sher darwaza and koh-e asma’i, and in front of it the cupola over Timur Shah’s tomb is visible. On the left riverbank, north of the idgah Mosque, was the fil khana, the house of the elephants.
