(1905): Afghanistan, pp. 187-188 : "Diese beiden zuletzt genannten Federwildarten [Wildenten und Rohrhühner] pflegte der damalige Thronfolger Habib Ullah, der ein guter Schütze ist, zu jagen; er ist ein grosser Liebhaber der Jagd, aber dem grossen Wilde spürte er wegen der damit verknüpften Beschwerlichkeit und der Unsicherheit nicht nach. Eine Jagd auf Raub- und Schwarzwild forderte zudem nicht nur einen grossen Zeitaufwand, sondern machte auch die Aufbietung einer starken militärischen Bedeckung notwendig, und dazu wäre die Zustimmung des Emirs nicht zu haben. ... Auf den Jagden schoss der Thronfolger oft an einem Tage mehr als zweihundert Enten und Rohrhühner. In früheren Jahren machte auch der damalige Emir solche Jagdausflüge in die Umgebung Kabuls. Er gab zwar keinen Schuss ab, erlustigte sich aber sehr an dem Treiben seiner 'Pagen' ... In den letzten Jahren musste der Fürst wegen seines heftiger auftretenden Gichtleidens auf dieses Vergnügen verzichten."
