Dupree (1977): An historical guide to Afghanistan, pp. 398-399: (2) Madrassa (College) of Sayid Subhan Quli Khan: Built in the 17th century by a great scholar of Balkh, this magnificent fragment of what was a huge academic establishment bespeaks the renaissance of Balkh during the Timurid and Uzbak periods.
