Aufnahme des Stupa 1 in Shewaki von Westen her gesehen. Reste des Mörtel-Verputzes der Kuppel sind noch erhalten. ♦♦♦ This photograph shows the Buddhist stupa No. 1 at Shewaki, south of Kabul, as seen from its western side. Parts of the original plaster on the cupola are still in situ.

Blick von Nordosten auf das westlich der Stadt Kandahar gelegene Monument chehel sina, die 40 aus dem Fels gehauenen Stufen, die zur Gedenkstätte hinauf führen. Die Inschrift verherrlicht die Eroberung Kandahars durch Babur, den Gründer der indischen Mogul-Dynastie, der in Kabul begraben liegt. ♦♦♦ A view from NE on the chehel sina (40 steps), leading up to the monument near Kandahar, in remembrance of the conquest of the city by Babur, the first of the Great Moguls.

Blick in die SE-Ecke des Hofes der masjed-e shah, im SW des Arg-Platzes in Kandahar. ER 253-2 zeigt die gegenüber liegende Hofseite. Die im Hof aufgeschichteten Tonplatten dienen zur vom Emir Habibullah Khan angeordneten Renovierung des Bodenbelages. ♦♦♦ This is a view in the SE corner of the courtyard of the masjed-e shah, which lies SW of the citadel/arg. The next picture, ER 253-2, is a continuation to the right. The slabs, piled in the centre of the court, are for the renovation of the paving, ordered by Amir Habibullah Khan.
